Furbo uses AI to recognize pets, people, and activities in your home. While our AI recognition technology continues to improve, it may sometimes mistake an object for a pet or person, or miss a detection altogether.
AI accuracy can also improve over time as the technology learns from more images and situations.
If you're receiving unexpected Person, Dog Activity, or Dog Selfie notifications, the following conditions may affect Furbo's detection accuracy.
1. Your Furbo is facing a light source
Strong backlighting can make it difficult for Furbo to see the shape and details of your dog or a person. This may result in fewer or inaccurate detections.
What to do:
Place your Furbo so it does not directly face a window, lamp, or other strong light source.
2. Your Furbo is placed too high
If Furbo is positioned too high, your dog may appear very small in the camera view. This can make it harder for Furbo to recognize your dog and detect activity.
What to do:
We recommend placing Furbo around 90–130 cm (35–51 in) above the floor. This can also help capture better Dog Selfies.
3. Clothes or other objects may look like a person
Hanging clothes, coats, blankets, or other objects can sometimes resemble the shape of a person and trigger Person Detection.
What to do:
Keep clothes and other large objects away from the area directly in front of your Furbo.
4. Toys or photos may look like a dog
Fluffy toys, stuffed animals, or even photos of dogs may sometimes look similar to a real dog and trigger Dog Activity or Dog Selfie notifications.
What to do:
Move fluffy toys, stuffed animals, and dog photos away from the area in front of your Furbo.
5. Black or dark-colored dogs may be harder to recognize
Dark objects can absorb more light, making your dog's facial features and body shape harder for the AI to distinguish. As a result, Furbo may sometimes have difficulty recognizing a black or dark-colored dog.
What to do:
Try placing Furbo in a well-lit area with enough light on your dog's face and body. Avoid strong backlighting whenever possible.
Still receiving false detections?
