What is Furbo Home Mode and how do I set it up?
This article explains how Home Mode works and walks you through how to set it up.
What is Home Mode?
When Home Mode is turned on, Furbo will pause notifications on your phone when your phone enters your home area. When you leave your home area, notifications will automatically resume. This helps reduce unnecessary notifications while you're at home while making sure you continue receiving Furbo notifications when you're away.
Which notifications are affected by Home Mode?
While Home Mode is active, your phone will stop receiving Smart Alerts, Barking Alerts, and Meowing Alerts from that camera.
Furbo will continue detecting events, and your existing video playback history will not be interrupted by Home Mode. Recordings will continue to be created based on your feature settings and subscription status. If you'd still like to receive these notifications while you're at home, turn off Home Mode.
How do I turn on Home Mode?
- Open the Furbo app and tap Menu in the bottom-right corner.
- Select the Furbo camera you want to set up, then tap Home Mode.
- Turn on Home Mode and confirm your home location. You can use your phone's current location or search for and save your home address.
- Follow the instructions in the app and set Furbo's location permission to "Always".
Once setup is complete, Home Mode will use this phone's location to determine when to pause or resume notifications from the selected camera.
What if I share my account with family members or have multiple Furbo cameras?
Each family member needs to set up Home Mode on their own phone. If one family member turns on Home Mode, it will not affect notifications on anyone else's phone. Home Mode works separately on each phone based on that phone's location.
If you have multiple Furbo cameras, you'll also need to set up Home Mode separately for each camera you want to use it with.
For example, if you share your Furbo account with a family member and only you have turned on Home Mode for your living room camera:
- Your phone: When you arrive home, your phone will automatically stop receiving the affected notifications from the living room camera.
- Your family member's phone: Their notifications will not be affected, and they will continue receiving notifications from the camera as usual.
Why does Furbo need location access set to "Always"?
Home Mode needs to determine when your phone enters or leaves your home area. Because this needs to work even when the Furbo app isn't open, Furbo's location permission must be set to "Always".
Important: If you later change Furbo's location permission to "While Using the App" or "Never", Home Mode will automatically turn off. After allowing location access again, return to the Furbo app and check that Home Mode is turned on.
What should I do if Home Mode isn't working as expected?
If you're still receiving notifications after arriving home, or notifications don't resume after you leave home, check the following:
- Location permission: Go to your phone's settings and make sure Furbo's location access is set to "Always".
- Home Mode: Make sure Home Mode is turned on for the correct camera on this phone.
- Home location: Check that the home location saved in Home Mode is correct.
- Internet connection: Make sure your phone has a working internet connection.
