At first, Furbo will be a brand-new friend for your dog. In the beginning, your pup might be a bit nervous since they're unfamiliar with Furbo.
Professional dog trainer, Zak George, has the following recommendations when introducing Furbo to your dog:
"My dog was terrified for the first couple of months and ran and hid. I just kept talking and tossing treats and doing the same while I was home/in the room with him. And now he loves it. Good luck!"
- Laura Steiner
"This is what I would do....put Furbo on the ground, somewhere your dog can walk up to it anytime he wants and give it a sniff. Let him have constant access to Furbo without tossing treats or speaking to him. Do this for a solid few days. Then, when your home, sit next to Furbo with the pup in your lap and shoot a treat. Give him lots of love and encouragement when Furbo starts to make the noise he's scared of. Do this once or twice a day until he seems comfortable with the sound. Now, as far as speaking to your dog through Furbo I found that the sound comes out crystal clear regardless of my distance from it. I also found that once your pup is used to the treat tossing sound, hearing your voice won't be so scary anymore. I know this might take a little while longer to get your pup used to the noise, but in the end, it'll be worth it. Hope this little bit of advice helps transition your little guy."
- James Turley
"I would do as suggested by James, in your lap and act excited and happy when treats are dispensing. I'd also use the voice from another room or distance where he can see you speaking into your phone so he pairs the Furbo voice with your familiar voice."
