This article covers how to enable, disable, and customize the Barking or Meowing Alert notifications for your Furbo Mini camera. It is intended for Furbo Mini owners who want to manage how often they receive pet alerts on their smartphones, or troubleshoot alerts that are not working.
By adjusting these settings in your Furbo app, you can choose how often your phone receives notifications while ensuring your Furbo Mini continues to capture your pet's activity in your Video History.
How to turn Barking or Meowing Alerts on or off
The Furbo Mini uses smart alerts to notify you when your dog barks or your cat meows. The exact wording in your app will automatically match the type of pet (dog or cat) you selected during setup.
Follow these steps to turn your Furbo Mini Barking or Meowing Alerts on or off:
Open the Furbo app and view your Furbo Mini's home screen.
Tap the Menu button (☰) located in the bottom right corner.
Select the specific Furbo Mini camera you want to modify.
Tap Barking Alert or Meowing Alert.
Tap the toggle switch to turn the alerts ON or OFF.
Important Note on Recording: Turning this toggle OFF only stops push notifications from appearing on your smartphone. Your Furbo Mini will still automatically detect your pet's voice, record the event, and save it to your Video History.
How to adjust alert sensitivity and notification frequency
If your Barking or Meowing Alerts are turned on, you can customize how sensitive the camera is to sound and how frequently you want to be notified.
Adjusting sound sensitivity
If your Furbo Mini is missing alerts or picking up too much background noise, you can change the detection sensitivity:
From the Barking/Meowing Alert settings screen, locate the Sensitivity section.
Choose between Low, Medium, or High sensitivity.
Adjusting notification frequency
To prevent your smartphone from being flooded with messages when your pet makes continuous noise, you can limit your notification frequency:
From the Barking/Meowing Alert settings screen, locate the Notification Frequency options.
Select one of the following intervals:
Always: You will receive an alert every time your pet barks or meows (up to once per minute).
Every 30 mins: You will receive a maximum of one alert every 30 minutes.
Every 1 hr: You will receive a maximum of one alert every hour.
Note: This feature is not available on the original Furbo Mini (Mini 1)
Troubleshooting Barking or Meowing Alerts
If your alerts are turned on but you are not receiving any notifications on your smartphone, try the following troubleshooting steps:
Check smartphone permissions: Ensure your smartphone has granted the Furbo app permission to send push notifications.
Test the camera microphone: Verify if the Furbo Mini camera's microphone is working properly. Open the live stream in your Furbo app, speak through the app, and check if you can hear yourself clearly through the camera.
Cycle the feature: Turn the Barking/Meowing Alert toggle feature OFF and then turn it back ON.
Restart the camera: Unplug your Furbo Mini camera from the power outlet, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
Relaunch the app: Log out of the Furbo app entirely, then log back in.
Important Notes
Background Noise: External noises can occasionally be mistaken for a bark or a meow. If you experience false alerts, lower the sensitivity setting to Low.
Automatic System Sync: If you turn your alert notifications OFF, the Furbo system will automatically set your camera's internal sensitivity to Medium. This ensures that the camera can still reliably record your pet's events to your Video History in the background.
Notification Rate Limit: Even when your frequency is set to Always, notifications are limited to a maximum of once per minute to prevent spamming your device.
